Clark Regional Medical Center raised $1,400 last week from a silent auction benefiting Clark County organization A.R.T. or Achieving Recovery Together. A.R.T. is a local non-profit dedicated to community education, outreach, and peer-based support services for those suffering from addiction. The auction was coordinated by Teresa Daniels MSN, RN, CIC, CPPS, T-CHEST, FAPIC, CPHQ, Director of Infection Prevention at Clark Regional Medical Center and JauNita Everman, Executive Director from A.R.T.
“Our mission of Making Communities Healthier extends far beyond the walls of Clark Regional Medical Center,” shared Matt Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Clark Regional. “We are proud to work with community services like A.R.T. who provide patients with additional care and support for addiction so that they receive the best guidance possible on the road to recovery.”
Clark Regional Medical Center works directly with A.R.T.’s Quick Response Team when substance abuse is suspected in patients or drug counseling is needed. A peer support specialist from A.R.T., who can speak directly to additional resources and recovery, is on call 24/7 at the hospital to respond to patient needs. To date, A.R.T. has seen a 65% success rate in getting these individuals into some type of treatment program so that they can begin the recovery process. The Quick Response Team also conducts home visits for individuals who have called for emergency assistance during or after a suspected drug overdose and often distributes Narcan to inmates that are released from local detention centers, through their First Day Forward program.
“I am thankful for our partnership with Clark Regional. The employees’ generosity is amazing, and the baskets are so creative! You can tell a lot of love and hope went into them,” said JauNita Everman.
Clark County, Kentucky where Clark Regional Medical Center and A.R.T. are located consistently ranks as one of the top ten counties in the Commonwealth for the rate of overdose deaths. According to the Kentucky Cabinet for Public Safety, Clark County had 35 overdose related deaths in 2020 and Kentucky as a state experienced a 49% increase in overdose deaths from 2019 to 2020.
“We are excited about the success of this year’s silent auction benefiting A.R.T. This organization plays a vital role in providing recovery resources including residential treatment, counseling, transportation, and more throughout our community,” said Teresa Daniels, MSN, RN, CIC, CPPS, T-CHEST, FAPIC, CPHQ. “Thanks to all of our employees who helped make this event a great success.”
